Random

This is just a random temporary post. My review of Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce will be up in about an hour or two. The contest is still going on for the bookmarks so comment on the post to enter.

A hand kids past a misplaced believer.

Don't mind that. It's just so I can verify my blog so I can get paid for my posts =)

In My Mailbox/Pile of Shame #1

Here's my In My Mailbox/Pile of Shame video for this week. Also today is my half birthday! Maybe if I have a few more followers by my actual birthday I will do a giveaway of some sort =)

The contest for the bookmarks is still going on. I don't know if it will get any entries so I am going to leave it open until people start entering then I will give it a week after that. My review of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian will be up on Saturday.

Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs cover reveal!

As I said yesterday, today I am doing a cover reveal and a giveaway! So, without further ado, the cover!

Pretty right? I love it a lot and it definitely is making me want to read this! A few things about Sweet Venom:

Release Date: October 2011
Blurb: Three teenage descendants of Medusa, the once-beautiful gorgon maligned by myth, must reunite and embrace their fates in a world where monsters lurk in plain sight.
Characters: The three main characters are Grace, Gretchen, and Greer. You can see their character collage in this Books, Boys, Buzz... post http://yawriters.blogspot.com/2010/05/title-help-time.html

Now for the giveaway. Tera sent all these lovely bookmarks for the bloggers to giveaway!

To enter for one of these bookmarks, YOU MUST BE A FOLLOWER, then leave a comment telling me what you think of the cover and vote for what you think I should read next. Depending on how many entries I get I will giveaway one or two of these and save the rest for a later date. =)

Some of my favourite books of 2010

I found this contest today in which you could win one of the bloggers favourite books from the last year.http://cjredwine.blogspot.com/2011/02/best-reads-of-2010.html?spref=tw

In honour of this of this contest I thought I would share a few of my favourite books from 2010.

First, I read both The Forest of Hands and Teeth and The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan. They are both zombie Apocalypse novels. The first one follows Mary who lives in this enclosed area in the middle of the Forest of Hands and Teeth, a forest filled with the Unconsecrated. Soon a girl comes to Mary's village which the Guardians try to keep quiet; no one is supposed to know that there is life outside the fences. One day the Unconsecrated break through the barriers and start attacking everyone in the village. Mary's only choices are to stay and be turned into one of them or to face her fears and pass through the barriers, leaving her village forever.

The Second is about a girl named Gabry who lives in a lighthouse with her mother. They have much less Mudo (their word for Unconsecrated) but there is still the threat of them. A bunch of Gabry's friends decide one night to cross the barrier to this old theme park. Everything goes as planned until an unseen Mudo crosses their path. A few kids are attacked but most get out alright; but now they must lie about crossing the barrier.

There were a few others I enjoyed but these two were among my favourites. I may post a few more later, but for now I will feature Carrie's books. The third book, The Dark and Hollow Places, comes out on March 22, 2011.

Also, I know I suck at posting here but I am going to get better! I have a few ideas for this blog that should be fun. I am going to take Random Reviews to a new level and I may eventually create a new webpage for it but for now it will stay here. I will be reviewing everything from recipes to cell phone apps, and of course I will still review books. I have a review that I will be posting hopefully this weekend. It of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. I had to read this for my YA Lit class so yeah, look for that.

DFTBA and Best Wishes

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to do a little intro to my new blog. On this blog I am going to, as the name suggests, have reviews of random things. This will be anything tv shows, books, recipes, CDs....anything. I am posting a few posts from my old blog that I did over a year ago just so I can have a little something on this one.

My schedule I made for this is as follows:
Wednesday: In My Mailbox/Pile of Shame video or post (it will depend on how late I am at school/how much homework I have as to whether this will be a blog or video)
Saturday: Review

Then if there is anything important I have to post on a specific day or something that will go up whenever it's supposed to.

Tomorrow I have a post going up that is a cover reveal and a small giveaway. You will need to be a follower to enter so go ahead and do that.

Today I am posting an old review of Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick as well as one of Scarlett Fever by Maureen Johnson and a post that has two of my favourite books from 2010. I may also be posting a new review...who knows yet.

I hope that everyone enjoys this new blog and follows it!
